#5, #23, #93, and #96 - check!

So here's an update for all you who have been waiting on the edge of your seats to see what we have accomplished on our 101 in 1001 list lately! (We know you are dying to know? What? You're not? Oh well, you will have to endure it anyway!)

#5 - Get an iPhone. Internet, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for my very own iPhone! It bordered on obsessive, but I was finally able to save up and convince the D in this house to let me get one! :) And it's amazing. Including my beautiful Kate Spade case.

#93 - Buy an original piece of art. For those who don't know, one of my very best friends just so happens to be an amazing artist. Her name is Mandie Aberra (I've blogged about her before, and you can link to her site via the ad at the bottom of this page!) She custom painted me two beautiful canvas' for our living room update that has yet to be shared. Just take a look at this awesomeness...

#23 - Grow my own tomatoes (AND jalepenos!). This has been quite an experience! But I just can't wait for them to be ready to eat!

This next one isn't on the list, it should have been though and it's worth sharing! Today we painted our front door this lovely shade of blue...yummy huh?

Lastly #96. Does anyone remember this guessing game played on facebook! People guessed everything down to an Ompa Loompa. Seriously, my facebook friends are crazy ya'll! So here's the big reveal!

It's a DISHWASHER! And it's beautiful!!! For all those who know Daryl and I, you know that we hate to wash dishes. We went from having a dishwasher to handwashing for over a year, and now we finally have our Anniversary dishwasher as we like to call it...It was a nightmare getting it here and installed since we didn't have one before in this house, but we finally got it worked out and couldn't be more thrilled with the extra time it gives us!

Thanks for bearing with us with through all that! Whew! More beautiful sessions to come! :)

Check and Mark! #45 - Get a Juicer!

For our 3 year anniversary this week, Daryl bought me a beautiful new juicer and so graciously checked off #45 on the ole 101 in 1001 list! :) Our first try was for Pineapple-Kiwi-Mango juice! It was delicious! :) What a great hubby that guy is!

Check and Mark! #77 - Get a Grill!

Daryl's sweet parents+sister checked off #77 on my life list by getting us a grill for our anniversary today!
Can you tell the excitement here?

Daryl is happily on his way to become a grill master...or at least someone who doesn't burn things to much!

Here he is enjoying a minute staring at the steak and chicken - hoping he doesn't screw this up! Ha!

We are so excited to be checking off like 4 things on the life list THIS WEEK! WHOOT! :) We are so thankful for our friends and family that have so lovingly gifted us this week! : ) More life list posts to come! :)

we are all a little weird...

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love...

despite the pollen...

We are so glad that spring is here... This winter felt like it lasted forever...
Two months from now, I will no doubt be dying for a wintery day, but for now, I'm enjoying the windows open, breeze blowing the curtains days...

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:  when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."

vacation 2010

This year we all rounded up to around Asheville, NC for some family fun in the mountains!
We rented a cabin - where we crocheted, read, hiked, crossword puzzled and built fires to our hearts content!
It was just lovely!

We obviously are a picture taking bunch...Say cheese!

We went waterfall scouting and after hiking for 2 miles (for the second year in a row), we realized that it was a ROCK fall. Where, literally, rocks had fallen from the cliffside. Not finding waterfalls has hysterically become a Reid family tradition! But to make up for it, we stopped at a roadside lookout for this beautiful waterfall....it made up for it.. :)

Grandma did crossword puzzles almost the entire time we were there - stayed up wayyyy past her bedtime looking for those pesky words...

You may remember Grandma's sledding adventures here! Isn't she just the cutest thing?

I still believe that one of the best parts of being married is inheriting the family :).

keep calm...

Sometimes if feels like everything is going bad. Everything around us is failing and falling apart. "Surely, it's not as bad as it seems?" You know the weeks when the car breaks down, there is no money in the account, and the bills are due. The kind where you have to remind yourself to breathe in, breath out. The trip over every curb, drop every little thing, and stub your toes on the furniture - kind of week. I'm having one of those...

But I'm determined. I will not be in a bad mood, I will not let it get me down, because honestly - I've got it pretty good. I'm well loved and taken care of. I get to wake up everyday and do what I love. I have a wonderful family and friends who support me. I've got food in the cabinets and power in the lights. I've got a husband who won't stop loving me even when I'm a hot mess. You see - sometimes you just have to remind yourself to just keep calm...

And if all else fails...eat cupcakes.

two years...

Today...we have been married for two whole years. It's hard to believe that we have come so far from where we were just two short years ago. We've had our ups and downs, but overall it's been pretty up :).

It's amazing the things we learn about each other day in and day out - I wonder if it is the same for every married couple. That you're surprised by the things your husband/wife thinks, says, or does on a pretty regular basis...

Things I've learned since being married...

  1. Sometimes things are amazing.
  2. Sometimes they are not.
  3. It's okay to be irritated and mad at each other sometimes.
  4. He will always leave the top of the Q-TIP jar.
  5. Life isn't perfect.
  6. I can't control everything even though I will try. (This is something Daryl's learned I believe..haha)
  7. Married life is the best. It's better than dating any day.
  8. Feeling this kind of security cannot be matched.
  9. Being married makes you want to be a better person in all aspects of life.
  10. He will always air guitar at every available opportunity - even while doing the dishes.
  11. He will always love me. Even at my worst.
  12. There is no manual.
  13. Laughter is indeed the best medicine. It fixes all levels of arguments and disagreements. At least for us.
  14. It's okay to thinking differently, as long as you can happily compromise. :) Or at the very least - do it my way. haha...
  15. Life is most certainly a box of chocolates...
I know it seems silly, but sometimes it's nice to remind yourself where you've been and where you are going. I'm just happy to know that I have someone who is along for the ride, no matter what. It's not perfect, but its exactly what I always wanted. I love him. (that's you, D.)

bittersweet memories...

This past week has been full of ups and downs for our family. Daryl's Grandma Cook (Merle), died late last week and her memorial service was over the weekend. Because she had battled with Alzeihmers for many, many years, I never had the opportunity to know and love her. But you can ask anyone in their family and of her friends, and they would tell you she was a beautiful, classy lady. She was a spiritual woman, and a go-getter, who loved her family and her husband. I can't wait for the opportunity to meet her one day! :)

I took this picture of her one of the first times I met her, before Daryl and I were married. It's not how her family will probably remember her, and from what I hear, she would have a heart attack if she saw this picture. But I think that even despite disease, she could still put a smile on her face and enjoy her time here.

Now - on a happier note. Janette, Daryl's older sister, and her husband, Travis, were in town for the funeral so it was super nice to see them! We conned them into taking some pictures of them so that everyone can have an updated one. Heather snuck in for some sisters action too! We picked the hottest day of the spring to take the pictures but they ended up being pretty nice!

and these two together - so beautiful :)

that is always followed by twice as much time laughing!

No One Can Believe it SNOWED in GEORGIA!

So for the first time in almost 2 decades - there was, not just flurries, but HALF A FOOT OF SNOW in our front yard! AHH! I can't even explain the levels of excitement at our house! When it started snowing, we were falling all over ourselves to get home to see how Scout would react. (I really don't mean to sound like some crazy-dog mother or something, but I do have a fondness in my soul for my girl - despite her fuzzy, sheding features.) So - back to the point. We were excited and spent the better part of the evening playing fetch with snowballs that disappear when they hit the ground - which by the way is hilarious to watch your dog search and search for that ball. Priceless really. Go ahead and prepare yourself for lots of pictures of her. (And for some reason - I just think snow in black and white is so beautiful...I can't stop!)

This is classic Scout. :)

But really - the snow here was beautiful. See for yourself.

On Saturday morning, we met Daryl's parents, his sister Heather,
80-something year old Grandma and some good friends of ours with little kids for a sledding bonaza!
We had an absolute BLAST!

This is Casey...don't you just wanna eat her up!?

And here is Quinn...(above with his beautiful mom Tammy)

and this...this...is Daryl and Heather with his casted arm from his surgery!
We had to wrap it in plastic wrap so it wouldn't get wet in the snow.
But doesn't it kinda look like a hoagie? :) It makes me laugh every time I see it!

And introducing Grandma Margie Reid to the blog...
She was having so much fun! Doesn't she look so happy! We just love her...

Towards the end of the excursion, Davy and Daryl decided to build a ramp of snow to see how much "air" they could get. Pretty much all the adults missed the ramp the first two or three times they tried, but the kids hit it every time! Here is Daryl's successful run...

and did I mention that I LOVE SNOW...
and finally...I like to call this piece - watch Davy bite it.

All the snow is now melted and it's raining - AGAIN. But it was fun while it lasted!
